DJ's can make or break your wedding.  If you are low key and do not dance, you may want to mention that to the DJ, you have to find the right fit.  If you want a fun, everyone having a good time wedding, you want to tell that to your DJ.  We personally think when a wedding dance floor is so full people have to dance next to the dance floor THAT IS AN AWESOME DJ!  We love dancing here at Facchianos so we love our friends at DJ Connection.  They make the party happen.  Every wedding we do with them, they can get people on the dance floor.  Very good at luring the people out there and then they are there and feel like they have to dance.  They keep the party going so no one wants to stop!  One time we went to a wedding of theirs and they got everyone to circle the couple "the circle of LOVE" then after that they went right into the song SHOUT!  Who can sit when you are already standing and SHOUT comes on?  NOBODY!!  So they are fun and they keep things rolling along, when people are dancing, they are having a good time, and that makes for a fun wedding!

As technology evolves resources such as TheKnot.com and WeddingWire have become a bride’s best friend when planning their perfect wedding. While these sites are very useful, they don’t eliminate the research you’ll want to do when choosing your vendors. Reviews are awesome, DJ Connection has over 600 on WeddingWire, but there is more that you should look into when booking a wedding DJ.

1. Location

Location is key when deciding on your wedding DJ. Does the DJ have to drive 4 hours just to get to your venue? This may create issues with travel fees, late arrival, back up plans, and so much more. Always make sure your wedding DJ has an office in your area in case there are emergencies like equipment or car failure so that a fix can happen seamlessly.

2. Experience

How comfortable are you riding in the car with someone practicing for their driver’s license? It’s stressful, right? It’s also pretty stressful to watch a new DJ fumbling through a wedding. Not only is the location of your wedding DJ important but so is how long they have been DJing altogether. Are they with a new company? How many shows have they done? Is this a full-time job or a side gig? What was their training process like? All of those questions should be answered in one way or another when you are looking for a professional wedding DJ.

3. Insurance and Policies

The question of insurance is often overlooked and rarely asked post booking. Why is insurance important? Most venues, if not all, require your vendors to provide proof insurance prior to your event. On the off chance of your wedding DJ’s equipment damages the venue, your DJ’s insurance will cover everything so you don’t have to worry. Additionally, you should always know your particular wedding DJ’s policies. Ask about their cancellation or postponement policy and whether or not you’ll get your deposit back - can your DJ can transfer dates in the case of deployment or family emergency? Clarify what your wedding DJ’s policies are before signing any contracts.

4. Services

The services your wedding DJ offers will help you plan the specifics of your big day. What does your wedding DJ include in terms of equipment? Will they charge by the hour or do they offer unlimited time? What add-ons do they have available? Can you get a custom monogram? A great resource is the The Knot's Wedding Budget Planner and their Budgeting Blog. When it comes to budgeting for a wedding DJ, consider your needs. Do you need a wedding DJ for an intimate 30 person gathering or 300 person extravaganza? Think about your expectations for the DJ and how much your event depends on them. If a wedding DJ comes in below your budget doesn’t mean it’s a great deal. If they come in at $100 over your budget doesn’t mean they are trying to nickel and dime you - their price may be more inclusive of another DJ’s “add-ons”.
